Earwig is in the studio recording their newest full-length CD. Lizard and the boys are also playing at Comfest at 5PM on the Off Ramp Stage. Check them out. The Off Ramp stage this year is THE stage, as it has been for the past few years. Tom will miss Comfest this year (OUCH!) so take good notes. I’ll go through all your tear-stained diary entries, with your permission, of course, when I return.

Yes, Tom will miss Comfest this year (double-ouch!!) to be in Ireland instead, but as it’s my fav weekend all year, the prospect of missing it is killing me. My only consolation is that OATH friend Andy Harrison, who tunes guitars for Sheryl Crow, will be in London on Comfest Weekend with the Hard Rock Calling Festival. We hope to score some back-stage passes and drown our comfest sorrows with Andy and a pint of bitter. A bitter pint of bitter.

Speaking of Ireland, celtic band supreme General Guinness are working on their fourth CD with Tom at the studio, and are performing at this year’s Dublin Irish Festival on Friday, August 1st at 4:15PM as well as Saturday at 6PM. They have not one, but two new fiddle players and are ready to convert you all to high-stepping dancers. Their singer James O’Shea is a great vocalist in the Irish tradition, which makes sense, as he’s a transplant from the Emerald Isle. And he knows how to swing a hammer. At their performance, be sure to check out all the hand-made instruments created by Tom Davis at his shop, J. Thomas Davis, Guitarmaker.

Tom performed at Andyman’s Treehouse last saturday night as part of Quinn Fallon and Andyman’s last night as owners of the local legendary club and neighborhood hangout. It was a privilege and honor to share the stage with all those great solo acts and musicians, as well as the night’s closer, Willie Phoenix. Phil Palma is assuming ownership of the club. He’s a great guy and, as I witnessed, a very cool and talented singer and songwriter. Congratulations, Phil, and good luck with the club. It’s a local jewel, and you’re just the guy to help it continue to shine.

Americana/roots singer-songwriter Jack Morris is working on some tunes at the studio. He’s the real deal and he’s got a great batch of songs. Public radio music professional Pat Testa is co-producing.

Go, Robot, Go has been recording at the studio. Currently we have 10 songs in progress. This retro-future pop blend is like taking a surf vacation with Elvis, Nanette, and Captian Kirk. Imagine Spock with a pompadour. “Eden, brother…” This stuff, as always, is very catchy and verrrrrry clever.

EverydaySunday came in to knock out some vocals on demos for their upcoming album. Trey and Tyler had a swizzle stick swordfight in the hallway, ala Prince Caspian. No swizzles were hurt in the filming.

So Everything performed at the Greater Columbus Arts Festival this year. It was hot show and a lot of fun. Or was it a fun show in immense heat? I don’t recall, the heat erased my memory banks.
